Cucamelon.Tiny pods of happiness.
This plant was sent to me as a freebie so was not a planned venture for this year but has been a little star in the greenhouse. I only learned recently (via a lovely tumblr) that these are also called a “mouse melon” which is just ridiculously cute.
The only slight downside of growing these is every time I see them in the greenhouse, I have an absurd desire to sing “La Cucamelon” to the tune of “La Cucaracha”.
Every. Single. Time.

"Invincible" Pumpkin.Taking over the garden, then the world.
The new pumpkin patch has been a great success this year. We have 6 varieties growing, all doing well and in fruit but the “Invincible” is the star of the show so far.
The runners on this beast are now at least 12 ft long, having escaped their actual home they are wound up into the quince tree where this big boy (currently football sized!) has decided to nest for the summer.
The runners move on past the tree across the path and into next door’s garden. I think this particular baby of mine has inherited my love of travel.
Don’t be too surprised if he knocks on your door on the next few weeks…
